…for news coming soon about Zion80 shows in NYC (including the Sephardic Music Festival on 12/12/12) and our debut on Tzadik Records.
Zion80 did a photo & video shoot at Toca Percussion on 9/24/12, thanks to our percussionist and Toca artist Marlon Sobol! It was a blast! The video will be coming soon. In the meantime, click the thumbnail for photos!
…well, not really. But we did finish up our residency at The Stone NYC last night. Thanks to all who PACKED the club and made it an unforgettable night! And very special thanks to John Zorn, who sat in with Zion80 and made the whole residency possible!!!
Stay tuned for more from Zion80 very soon – we’ll be going into the studio to record our debut for Tzadik Records, we’ll be playing LOTS more shows, and we’re looking into printing up some Zion80 onesies for our tiny rock star fans!
It’s hard to believe it’s been almost three months since Zion80 started the weekly Monday night New Music Observatory at The Stone. But alas, September is here, and we have just TWO MORE SHOWS to go! So join us on September 10 and September 24 for some Jewish Afrobeat madness. And stay tuned for an upcoming CD on Tzadik records and much more…
Zion80 played at the Stone on July 30, just like we do every Monday. But this Monday was just a bit special – we were joined by the master Brazilian percussionist Cyro Baptista. And that’s not all – straight off a plane from Europe and on their way to a gig at Lincoln Center, three members of the amazing Israeli band Yemen Blues joined us for an electrifying Jewish Brazilian Yemeni Afrobeat mashup! Oh, and the place was packed. Oh, and we recorded it! Very special thanks to Audio Engineer Scott Friedlander.
Here it is for your listening pleasure:
We’re VERY EXCITED to announce that the great Cyro Baptista will be joining Zion80 at our regular Monday night concert at The Stone on July 30. It promises to be a night of Jewish Brazilian Afrobeat Madness!
